They have a great web site themselves: Good Info

Hours:  M-F 7-4:30; June-Sept Sat 9-2; Oct-May Sat 9-12

When you enter, you must stop at the office and someone will tell you where to deposit your recyclables and other stuff. Instead of neatly labeled dumpsters you'll see enormous piles like these...

and a large shredding and baling center with scenes like this...

This is not the place to go if you have only some newspapers, bottles and cans, for instance. Use curbside recycling or a recycling center for that. But this is the place for electronic and hazardous waste or a truck full of magazines or cardboard.

Accepts:  Magazines, office paper, newspaper, cans, bottles, plastic bottles, plastic bags, yard waste and...

Electronic Waste (computers, tvs, cell phones, etc.) Motor Oil and Antifreeze Batteries Paint

 Directions:

The Pitkin Solid Waste Center is halfway between Aspen and Basalt. It is marked by upvalley and downvalley signs on CO 82 saying "Landfill." The turnoff is 8.8 miles from the central Basalt light and 9.1 miles from Mill and Main Streets in Aspen. It's on the side of the road opposite the river. You drive up a curvy road (watch for big trucks) for about half a mile.
